Hoy quiero compartir nuestro Álbum de Insignias Mágicas, un nuevo recurso de gestión de aula que hemos implementado este año y que nos está funcionando genial. Se trata de un sistema gamificado de lo que hacemos en el aula. Desde l@s encargad@s de clase hasta el fomento de una dieta saludable, todo está recogido en este álbum que nos durará todo el curso. ¿Le echamos un vistazo?

Today I want to share our Magic Badges Album, a new classroom management resource we've implemented this year and that has turned out to be supermotivating. It's a gamified system of  things we do in our classroom. From class jobs to encouraging a healthy diet, everything is compiled into this album we will use throughout the whole school year. Let's take a look inside!

Como si de cromos se tratase, cada un@ de nuestr@s alumn@s tiene su propio álbum en blanco. A lo largo del curso, y completando diversas tareas, irán ganando sus insignias mágicas. Así, conseguirán ser unos auténticos magos y brujas.

As if they were collectible cards, each of our students has their own blank album. Throughout the school year, and by completing different tasks, they will earn their magic badges. That way, they will get to be authentic wizards and witches.

La primera página se centra en su casa de Hogwarts. Como sabéis, este año hemos continuado con la temática de Harry Potter en el aula. Al comienzo de curso llevamos a cabo una ceremonia de selección de casas utilizando las bolas seleccionadoras (ver aquí). A medida que vayan cambiando de equipo y, por lo tanto, de casa, podrán ir coloreando la insignia de la casa correspondiente.

The first page is focused on their Hogwarts house. As you may know, this year we've continued with the Harry Potter theme in our classroom. Back in September, we carried out a sorting ceremony using sorting balls (check these out here). As they change from one house to another, they will colour the corresponding badge of their house.

El libro de lectura que viene con la editorial de Lengua se llama "Pandilla de la ardilla". Trae 12 cuentos con sus correspondientes preguntas de comprensión lectora. Así, a medida que van leyendo las historias y completando las preguntas, van obteniendo las insignias de cada historia.

The reading book that comes with our Literacy one it's called "The Squirrel Crew". It has 12 different stories with their corresponding comprehension questions. That way, as they read the stories and answer the questions, they obtain the badges for each story.

Con el fin de fomentar que traigan fruta para el recreo, llevamos un registro del número de días que traemos una pieza para comer. Cada vez que cumplimos 10 días trayéndola, podemos colorear una insignia, trabajando así las decenas.

With the aim of they bringing fruit for the break, we keep a register of the number of days they have brought a piece. Each time they get 10 days bringing fruit, they colour in a badge, working on tens too.

Aquí recopilamos seis habilidades que nos hacen más independientes, respetuos@s y ordenad@s: atar cordones, cerraduras, orden del pupitre, abrochar el mandilón, reciclaje y abecedario.

Here we include those skills that make us more independent, respectful and tidier: tie our shoelaces, locks, desk tidyness, buttons, recicle and alphabet.

El curso pasado, teníamos implementado un sistema de carnets de la biblioteca (ver aquí). Este año los hemos eliminado y sustituido por insignias. Conservamos el registro de libros y, a medida que van leyendo libros, van "desbloqueando" niveles.

Last year, we had an ID library cards system (check it here). This year, we have gotten rid of them and replaced them with badges. We still keep the same register for writing down the books they read and, as they do, they "unlock" levels.

Creo firmemente en el poder de asignar tareas individuales en clase con el fin de fomentar la responsabilidad, pues es labor de tod@s el conservar nuestro espacio de trabajo y aprendizaje limpio y listo para utilizar. Por ello, vamos cambiando los cargos para asegurarnos de que cada un@ ha sido responsable de cada tarea.

I strongly believe in the importance of assigning individual jobs with the aim of promoting responsibility, as it's everybody's duty to keep our working and learning space clean and ready to be used. Thus, we change from one job to another for making sure each has performed every task.

Al igual que antes utilizaba el pasaporte de las tablas de multiplicar (ver aquí), este curso lo hemos incluido en el propio álbum. De esta forma, pregunto las tablas hacia delante, hacia atrás y salteadas y van consiguiendo pegatinas que colocar en la celda correspondiente.

Last year I used the multiplication passport (check it here), this year we've included it in this album. This way, I ask them the tables forward, backwards and randomly and they earn stickers they can place in each square.

Aquí os explicaba cómo tenemos robótica integrada en el aula. Los robots vienen con un cuadernillo de programación dividido en 9 niveles. Como en anteriores ocasiones, a medida que van superando niveles, irán coloreando las insignias.

Here, I explained how we have robotics integrated in our classroom. The robots come with a programming booklet divided in 9 levels. As it happened before, as they go through them, they colour the badges.

Cuando comencemos con el proyecto de los artistas, dentro de cada marco, harán un dibujo del cuadro más representativo de cada un@ de ell@s y escribirán su nombre debajo.

When we start our artists project, inside of each frame, they will draw one  of their most representative painting and write the name of the artist under it.

Por último, pero no por ello menos importante, la última página está dedicada a las festividades que trabajamos en Inglés a lo largo del curso, así como el manejo de las rutinas diarias y el abecedario.

Last, but definitely not least, the last page is focused on the festivities we work on in our English lessons, as well as how they get along during our daily routines and the alphabet.

¡Eso es todo! Que no es poco. Es el primer año que utilizamos este álbum y, de momento, están muy motivad@s. Además, hemos notado un gran cambio en el tipo de aperitivo que traen para la hora del recreo. También están intrigad@s sobre lo que ocultan determinadas insignias y a nosotras nos resulta muy fácil ver de un vistazo qué trabajar con cada alumn@ y ver qué tiene completado cada un@ y qué no.

That's all! This is the first time we have used this album and, for the time being, they are very motivated. In addition, we have noticed an increase on the amount of fruit they bring to class. They are also intrigued by what each badge is going to be about and for us it's easy to see what we need to work on with each kid and what they have already completed and what they haven't.

Hoy no vengo descubriendo el fuego, ¡ni mucho menos! Pero quiero compartir un consejo de organización  de aula que me dio mi compañera Carmen 💕 Se trata del "aparcamiento de mochilas" y es un rincón que ¡me da la vida!

Today I'm not sharing anything super new or innovative. But, this organisation tip my teacher bestie Carmen gave me is such a life saver 💕 It's the "backpack park" and it's a great idea!

El aparcamiento de mochilas es un rincón donde poner todas las mochilas de mis peques y evitar que estén tiradas por clase, las pisen, las pongan en las sillas... Así, delimité un rincón con washi tape azul con el fin de que viesen dónde tienen que colocarlas y el espacio que pueden ocupar.

The backpack park is a corner where my kids keep all of their backpacks and avoid them being on the floor, stepping on them, placing them on chairs... Thus, I defined a zone with blue washi tape so that they could see where they should put them and how much space they could take.

¡Mirad cómo las colocan! Sé que en cursos altos igual no es muy práctico si las necesitan en cada sesión pero, a mí, que doy clase en cursos bajos, ¡me facilita mucho las cosas!

Look at how organised they keep them! I know it may not be a good option for upper years if they need to go to their bags in every session. However, I teach early years and it's the best!

El tenerlas contenidas todas en un mismo lugar, facilita mucho el poder moverse libremente por el aula sin tropezar. ¡Vaya cambio!

Having them contained in the same place, allows me to move freely around the room without stepping on them. What a change!

Today I want to share this project we created for a competition of creating art by recycling. We didn't win! But we learned how, if we work together, we are capable of amazing things like this one 😍 If you want to see how we created this mural, keep reading! 

En este proyecto hemos utilizado los siguientes materiales:

↠ Rollos de papel higiénico.
↠ Tijeras.
↠ Pintura acrílica.
↠ Hueveras.
↠ Rotuladores.
↠ Papel de regalo.
↠ Papel continuo.
↠ Esponjas.
↠ Papel de aluminio.
↠ Celo.

In this project we have used the following resources:

↠ Toilet paper rolls.
↠ Scissors.
↠ Acrylic paint.
↠ Egg carton.
↠ Markers.
↠ Gift wrap.
↠ Continuing roll.
↠ Sponges.
↠ Foil.
↠ Tape.

Después, cortamos las esponjas en trozos más pequeños para que fuesen más manejables y precisas.

Then, we cut out the sponges into smaller pieces so that they were easier to handle and more precise.

En los rollos de papel, dibujamos el diseño de pez que más nos gustó y los pintamos.

In the toilet paper rolls, we draw the fish design we liked and we painted it.

Para terminar nuestros peces, y una vez estuvieron secos, añadimos los últimos detalles con rotulador. A continuación, los colocamos en el papel continuo formando un pez más grande, cuya silueta hicimos con papel de aluminio.

For completing our fish, once they were dry, we added the finishing touches using markers. Afterwards, we placed them on the continuing roll creating a bigger fish, which silhouette we made using foil.

Para hacer las tortuguitas que acompañan a nuestro banco de peces, solo necesitamos una huevera. La pintamos con rotuladores verde y marrón simulando un caparazón y el cuerpo lo dibujamos directamente en el papel.

In order to make the little turtles that go with our school of fish, we only needed an egg carton. We painted it with green and brown markers as if it was a shell and we drew the body directly onto the paper.

Por último, añadimos las letras y las olas y... ¡nuestro mural estaba listo! Lo colgaremos en el pasillo para que nos recuerde cada día el gran equipo que formamos 💙

Lastly, we added the letters and the waves and... our mural was ready! We will display it in our hallway for it to remind us of the incredible team we are 💙

Hoy quiero compartir la manera en la que mi compañera y yo hemos distribuido a nuestr@s alumn@s en equipos/casas. No nos gustaba la idea de simplemente decir "vosotr@s sois de esta casa, vosotr@s de esta...". Preferíamos hacer algo diferente y que, aún teniendo nosotras el control sobre la organización de los grupos, pareciese algo dejado en manos de la magia. ¡Así es como se nos ocurrieron las bolas seleccionadoras!

Today I want to share the way my teacher bestie and I have used for distributing our students in teams/houses. We didn't like the idea of just saying "you go to this house, you go to that one...". We preferred doing something different that, although we'd still have control over the organisation of the groups, looked like it was all magical. And that's how we came up with the sorting balls!

Para hacerlas solo necesitamos plastilina blanca y de otros cinco colores (uno por cada equipo/casa). Hicimos tantas bolitas de colores como niñ@s tenemos en nuestras aulas y luego las recubrimos con la de color blanco.

In order to make them, we only needed white play dough and clay in 5 different colours (one per team/house). We made as many little coloured balls as children we have and then we covered them with the white clay.

Después, las metimos dentro de bolsas transparentes con los nombres de l@s peques para que no pudiesen cambiárselas y asegurarnos de que los grupos se formaban como nosotras queríamos.

Afterwards, we put them into transparent plastic bags with the kids' names on them so as to avoid children changing them and make sure groups were formed as we wanted.

Por último, ¡llegó la mejor parte! Cada alumn@ sacó la bola de su bolsita y les pedimos que las tocasen y amasasen mientras pensaban en aquello que les hace felices (sus amig@s, su familia...). Poco a poco, los colores fueron apareciendo y sus caras ¡no tenían precio!

Finally, it was time for the best part! Each student took their ball out of the bag and we asked them to touch and knead them while they thought of things that make them happy (their friends, their family...). Little by little, colours started to appear and their faces were priceless!

En este post os explicaba cómo tenemos dispuesto nuestro rincón de biblioteca y sus distintas secciones. Hoy vengo a contaros cómo organizamos los libros que se llevan a casa de forma que yo pueda saber cuántos y qué libros ha leído cada un@ de mis alumn@s pero siendo ell@s quienes se encargan del sistema.

In this post I explained how we have our library corner arranged and its different sections. Today I want to share how we organise the books they take home so that I know how many and which books each of my students has read but being them the ones who are in charge of the system.

Primero de todo, como podéis ver, los libros tienen dos pegatinas:

1. Número: para que lo anoten en el registro.

2. Símbolo del género literario: para que puedan colocar un libro de nuevo en la estantería correspondiente.

First of all, as you can see, all the books have two stickers:

1. Number: for writing it on the register.

2. Symbol of the literary genre: for putting the book back in the corresponding shelf.

Cuando se llevan o devuelven un libro, nuestros bibliotecarios se encargan de dejar registro de ello. ¿Cómo? A través de esta tabla con los nombres de tod@s l@s peques de la clase. Esta primera tiene hasta el número 20, pero se irá cambiando a medida que vayan leyendo más libros a lo largo del curso.

When they take or return a book, our librarians are the ones responsible for recording it. How? Through a grid with all of my little ones' names. This first one has numbers up until 20, but it will be changed throughout the school year as they keep reading more books.

Para ello, escriben a lápiz el número del libro que alguien se lleva. Cuando lo devuelven, lo colorean y anotan el siguiente.

With that aim, they write the number of the book someone is taking. When they return it, they colour it in and write the next one.

Además, tod@s tienen un carnet para llevar la cuenta del número de libros que llevan leídos. Ahora están en el nivel 1, pero los carnets irán subiendo de nivel y se "desbloquearán" distintos retos. Para elaborarlos, mi compañera y yo nos inspiramos en los que elaboró el Aula de Elena y que podéis encontrar aquí.

In addition, everyone has an ID card to keep track of how many books they have read. Now they're in level 1, but the cards will move on to the next levels and various challenges will be "unlocked". In order to create them, we got inspired by Aula de Elena and that can be found here. 

Por cada libro que entreguen ya leído, los bibliotecarios pondrán un gomet en uno de los recuadros hasta completar ese carnet y pasar al siguiente.

Every time a student returns the book they have read, the librarians will place a sticker in one of the squares until the ID card is completed and they can move on to the next one.
