¡Hola, confettis!

¿Cuántas veces nuestr@s alumn@s nos piden que les pongamos vídeos en clase? Son generaciones que están acostumbradas a una gran cantidad de input audiovisual y muchas veces, tristemente, no lo reciben ni en la cantidad ni en la calidad adecuadas. Es innegable la gran variedad de canciones y vídeos informativos que existe en YouTube. Así que, he hecho una lista con mis 10 canales favoritos que utilizo en mis clases de Inglés y AICLE y que creo que su contenido es beneficioso para el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje.

How many times do our students ask us to play videos in class? They're part of a generation that is used to a big amount of audiovisual input and, frequently and sadly, they don't receive it in the adequate amount and quality. It's undeniable the variety of songs and informative videos that YouTube offers. So, I've created a list with my Top 10 YouTube channels I use in my English and CLIL sessions that have meaningful content that enriches the teaching-learning process. 

¿Quién no conoce Super Simple Songs? Un clásico entre los clásicos. Sus melodías y sus gráficos hacen de este canal un lugar perfecto para buscar canciones que poner en el aula. Busques nursery rhymes, canciones sobre festividades, cuentos cantados... ¡ellos lo tendrán! Además, son los creadores del videoclip de Baby Shark que tanto nos "taró" la cabeza el año pasado 😂

Who doesn't know Super Simple Songs? It's such a classic. Its rhythms and graphics make this channel the perfect place for finding songs to play in your class. Whether you're looking for nursery rhymes, songs about festivities, stories... they will have them! Plus, they're the creators of the Baby Shark video that got into our heads last year 😂

El canal de PlayKids tiene un poco de todo: canciones, tutoriales de manualidades, cuentos e historietas... Todas protagonizadas por un grupo de amig@s animales. En su serie Social Skills for Kids, trabajan las habilidades sociales desde el respetar las normas en los juegos hasta el evitar el acoso escolar. Además, sus canciones incluyen subtítulos con la letra a modo karaoke, lo cual es un plus.

PlayKids channel has a little bit of everything: songs, craft tutorials, tails and stories... They all have an animal group of friends as their main characters. In their series Social Skills for Kids, they work on social skills from respecting the rules when playing to avoiding bullying. Plus, their songs include subtitles with the karaoke lyrics, which is a bonus.

¡Otro canal de música para niñ@s! En The Kiboomers encontrarás canciones. ¿Mis preferidas? Las centradas en festividades, aunque también tienen muchas de conteo muy interesantes. Al igual que pasaba con Super Simple Songs, los gráficos son muy atractivos y el ritmo pegadizo, lo cual facilita su memorización.

Another Kids Music channel! In The Kiboomers you will find songs. My favourite ones? Those focused on festivities, although they have some skip counting ones that are fun too. As it happened with Super Simple Songs, the graphics are super attractive and the rhythm is very catchy, which facilitates memorisation.

Lo que más me gusta del canal de Juny & Tony son sus vídeos sobre los cuentos clásicos cantados y su serie Good Habits Songs sobre hábitos saludables. Pero no solo eso, también tiene nursery rhymes, canciones sobre Ciencias... ¡hasta dibujos dirigidos!

The things I like the most about Juny & Tony channel are their story musical videos and their Good Habits Songs about healthy habits. But not only that, they also have nursery rhymes, Science-related songs... even directed drawings!

Pancake Manor es un canal con un montón de canciones. ¡Son la mar de cañeras! Además, mezclan marionetas con personas de carne y hueso. A mis peques les encantan. Mis favoritos son sus villancicos, pero tienen canciones sobre los colores, los números, nursery rhymes, el abecedario...

Pancake Manor is a channel full of songs. They are such a hit! Plus, they mix puppets and people. My little ones love them. My favourite ones are their carols, but they have songs related to colours, numbers, nursery rhymes, the alphabet...

Los creadores de la canción Baby Shark con coreografía y... ¡superritmo! En PinkFong, aparte de a Baby Shark, podemos encontrar a Hogi, una detective que va resolviendo sus casos a la vez que nos enseña diversos conceptos. Otro de los plus de este canal, es que tiene los cuentos de siempre contados de una forma muy visual, que ayuda a entender la trama. Además, los dibujos son muy atractivos para el alumnado.

The Baby Shark's coreography's creators and... super rhythm! In PinkFong, apart from Baby Shark, we can find Hogi, a detective that goes around solving her cases as well as teaching different concepts. Another pro of this channel, is that it has stories for children told in a very visual way, that helps children to understand the plot. In addition, the drawings are super eye-catching.

Si puedo quedarme con algo del canal de Peekaboo Kidz es The Dr. Binocs Show. Ya os hablé de él en mi Instagram (@colourmeconfetti), y es que esta colección de capítulos es oro puro. Se centra en explicar distintos contenidos de Ciencias Naturales y Ciencias Sociales. Así, el Dr. Binocs va viajando por el planeta, por el cuerpo humano... ¡Lo que toque con tal de hacer atractivo el aprender curiosidades!

If I have to choose something about the Peekaboo Kidz channel it's The Dr. Binocs Show. I already talked about it on my Instagram (@colourmeconfetti). This series is pure gold. It focuses on explaining different Science-related contents. That way, Dr. Binocs travels the world, the human body... Whatever it takes for making learning fun facts more attractive!

Es un canal que mezcla dibujos con personas de carne y hueso. En Bounce Patrol encontraréis numerosas canciones que trabajan nursery rhymes, los colores, la lectura, la comida... ¡Un poco de todo! Mis favoritas son sus canciones sobre... ¡las festividades!

It's a channel that mixes cartoons and people up. In Bounce Patrol you will find songs that work on nursery rhymes, colours, reading, food... A little bit of everything, really! My favourite songs in their channel and the ones related to... festivities!

Los vídeos de Brain Candy TV son más explicativos e informativos. Tienen vídeos sobre la mezcla de colores, experimentos de ciencias, las preposiciones, los cuerpos geométricos... Me encantan sus vídeos de Science, en especial los de cómo funcionan las cosas.

Brain Candy TV videos are more explanatory and informative. They have videos on mixing colours, Science experiments, prepositions, 2D and 3D shapes... I love the Science ones, especially those that explain how things work.

Si buscas vídeos de cuentos en inglés, este es tu canal. En Cool School tienen muchísimos vídeos de cuentos. Además, algunos están divididos en capítulos y son perfectos para trabajar la comprensión oral. También tienen a Super Drew, un superhéroe que protagoniza aventuras destinadas a salvar las celebraciones del año (Earth Day, Mother's Day, Christmas...).

If you're looking for storybook videos, this is your channel. In Cool School you will find loads of videos about children stories. Some of them are divided into chapters and are perfect for working on oral comprehension. They also have Super Drew, a superheroe that stars adventures aimed at saving different festivities throughout the year (Earth Day, Mother's Day, Christmas...).

Hoy quiero enseñaros lo que fue mi proyecto para este pasado verano: 💜 mi maleta de profe 💜 Y es que, aunque tengo mi carrito para andar por mi clase, cuando voy a otro aula a dar Inglés, tengo que cargar por mil cosas. Así que, para hacerme la vida más sencilla, adapté esta maleta para llevar los juegos y las flashcards que necesite. Si queréis saber cómo lo hice, ¡seguid leyendo!

Today I want to show you my summer project: 💜 my teacher trolley 💜 Although I have my cart for going around my classroom, when it comes to moving from one English class to another, I need to carry a bunch of things with me. So, in order to make my life easier, I adapted this little suitcase for keeping the games and flashcards I need with me. If you want to know how I did it, keep reading!

En este proyecto he utilizado los siguientes materiales:

↠ Maleta de cartón.
↠ Tijeras.
↠ Vinilo.
↠ Lápiz.
↠ Goma.
↠ Rotulador permanente.

In this project I have used the following resources:

↠ Cardboard trolley.
↠ Scissors.
↠ Contact paper.
↠ Pencil.
↠ Rubber.
↠ Permanent marker.

Se trata de una maleta de cartón que tenían las profes de Educación de Infantil de mi cole que ya no utilizaban. En Amazon las podéis encontrar también, aunque sin ruedas.

It's a cardboard trolley that some of the Kindergarten teachers at my school had and no longer used. You can find similar ones on Amazon, although they don't include the wheels.

Primero, forré la parte de delante con vinilo azul claro y la de detrás con vinilo con purpurina dorada.

Firstly, I covered the front part using blue contact paper and the back part with golden glitter one.

Para personalizarla, tracé las letras en el vinilo dorado y las repasé con un rotulador permanente negro.

In order to personalise it, I drew the letters on to the golden contact paper and traced them using a black permanent marker.

Por último, coloqué las letras ya recortadas en la posición que quería y las pegué repasando todo con una tarjeta para, de nuevo, evitar las burbujas.

Lastly, I placed the letters in the position I liked and stuck them on the paper going through everything with my card for making sure there were no bubbles.

Además, añadí unos bolsillos dentro de Tiger para aprovechar más el espacio y guardar todo lo que necesito.

Plus, I added some pockets on the inside that I got at Flying Tiger for taking advantage of the space and keeping everything I need in it.

En Londres me compré este puzle del mapa de la ciudad con dibujos de los lugares más famosos. Mi plan era enmarcarlo pero... ¡no sin antes enseñárselo a mis peques! Así que esta semana me lo llevé a clase ¡y vaya si triunfó!

Back in London, I bought this puzzle map with little drawings of the most famous places of the city. My plan was to frame it but... not without showing it to my little ones before! So, this week I took it to class and it was such a huge success!

We put it together and talked about what we could see in it:

↠ Means of transports.
↠ Monuments.
↠ River.
↠ Teapot.
↠ Names.

¡Aprendimos tantas cosas! El próximo día les voy a hacer una taza de Breakfast tea a ver si les gusta.

We learned so much stuff! Next day I'm going to make them a cuppa and see if they like it.

Hoy vengo con un cuento del que hablé en el Podcast Charla de Profesores de Manual de ELE (puedes escucharlo aquí) y que, cada vez que lo saco en clase, ¡triunfa! Se trata de Mix it up! de Hervé Tullet (en español, Colores) y es un IMPRESCINDIBLE si queréis trabajar los colores y sus mezclas.

Today I want to share a book I talked about on the Charla de Profesores Podcast by Manual de ELE (you can listen to it here) and that, every time I show it in class, it's a success! It's called Mix it up! by Hervé Tullet and it is a MUST if you want to work on colours and their mixtures.

Si en Press Here (Un libro) Tullet nos enseñaba los colores primarios, en este nos muestra cómo, al mezclarlos, obtenemos los secundarios. ¡Y de qué manera lo hace! Todo comienza con una huella de pintura gris, la cual tienes que tocar varias veces para que vayan apareciendo más colores.

If in Press Here Tullet showed us the primary colours, in this second book he shows how, by mixing them up, you obtain the secondary ones. And oh boy, does he do it great! Everything starts with a grey fingerprint, which you have to tap various times in order to get new colours to appear.

Así, a lo largo del libro, l@s alumn@s tienen que llevar a cabo distintas acciones para mezclar los colores. Por ejemplo, tienen que agitar el libro y, mágicamente, ¡habrá aparecido el verde! (Entendiendo "mágicamente" como pasar la página sin que tus peques se den cuenta 😅)

This way, throughout the book, students will have to perform different actions for mixing the colours up. For instance, they will have to shake the book and, magically, the green colour will appear! (Understanding "magically" as turning the page without you litlle ones realising 😅)

¡Y no solo mezcla los primarios! También utiliza el blanco y el negro para ver cómo los colores se aclaran u oscurecen dependiendo de con cuál los mezcles.

And not only does it mix primary colours! It also uses black and white for seeing how colours get lighter or darker depending on the one you mix them up with.

¿Qué incluye este spooky booklet?

En el archivo encontraréis 10 páginas A5 y en cada una se representa un elemento característico de Halloween junto con una frase para describir la imagen.
1. Portada.
2. Araña.
3. Bruja.
4. Fantasma.
5. Caramelos de maíz.
6. Mansión encantada.
7. Calabaza.
8. Frankenstein.
9. Monstruo.
10. Bolsa de truco o trato.

What do these subitizing sheets include?

In the file you will find 10 A5 pages and in each of them it's represented a Halloween-related element with a sentence for describing the picture.
1. Cover.

6. Haunted House.
7. Calabaza.
8. Frankenstein.
9. Monster.
10. Trick-or-treat bag.

En cada folio A4 vienen dos páginas del booklet. L@s alumn@s sólo tendrán que cortar por la línea del medio, ordenar las páginas (están numeradas), poner un par de grapas a la izquierda y... ¡listo!

In each A4 sheet you will find two pages from the booklet. Students will only have to cut along the line in the middle, put the pages in order (they are numbered), put a couple staples on the left side and... done!
