Canciones de Halloween ♥ Halloween songs

Canciones de Halloween ♥ Halloween songs
¡Hola, confettis!

Hello, confettis!
October has just began and I can only think about one thing: Halloween! It's one of my favourite festivities as I love this time of the year. If autumn brings cosy jumpers, pumpkin spice lattes and candles, Halloween puts the icing on the cake. Costumes, sweets, trick-or-treating, decor... The best part? I can include all the culture and traditions in my class and have fun with my kids. We have the best job in the world!

¡escalofriante!

And what is a must while we carry out our Halloweeny activities in class? Music! So here I come with an essential list of songs for setting a spooky mood!

1. Who Took The Candy?

This is my SUPERMEGAFAVOURITE one. Why? Because students can interact between them trying to guess who took the candy from the trick-or-treat bag. How? Each student will get a card with their costume (witch, vampire, ghost...). In addition, one of them with have the candy card. That way, as they sing the song, they will have to name the different costumes until they discover who was so cheeky that they took the candy!

2. Knock Knock, Trick or Treat?

¡Toc, Toc! ¿Te atreverás a abrir?

Knock, knock! Who is it? Open the door and you will give sweets to every boy and girl that will knock on your door throughout the Halloween night. A ghost, a cowboy, a two-headed monster, a ballerina... Will you dare to open?

3. Knock Knock, Trick or Treat? - Part 2

The second part of the previous song, including more costume variety.

4. Down By The Spooky Bay

This song is great for working on rhyming words using Halloween vocabulary. Join a little monster on a walk down the spooky bay where pumpkins grow and see a ghost eating some toast, a bat dancing with a rat, a vampire making a camp fire...

5. Baby Shark Halloween

¡Cómo no!

Of course! Baby Shark had to make it to this list, now in a Halloweeny version. This time, mummy shark takes her baby sharks trick-or-treating under the sea but... be careful! You never know who might be lurking in the most terrifying of the year.

6. Five Little Monsters Jumping On The Bed

Another Halloween adapted version. If in the original one monkeys are the ones who jump on the bed and bump their heads, this time it's five monsters who are quite naughty. Plus, it works on counting backwards.

7. This Is The Way We Carve A Pumpkin

This is the way I...".

Let's make a Jack-o'-lantern! With this song, we'll follow the steps on how to decorate our pumpkin dancing to the "This is the way I..." rhythm.

8. Five Little Pumpkins

Through this song, we will work on counting from 1 to 5. Additionally, each number and pumpkin is associated with an emotion and its corresponding action (happy - smiling, sad, crying...).

9. Can You Make A Happy Face?

Will you be able to mimic all the faces Jack-o'-lantern makes? Happiness, anger, scare... This song helps to identify the emotion we feel with its facial expression.

10. Trick Or Treat | Give Me Something Good To Eat

Learn about all kinds of food and how they taste with the help of various boys and girls wearing costumes! Do you prefer sweet food? Sour? Let's see all the different flavours our taste buds can identify.

La cocina de la bruja ♥ What's in the Witch's Kitchen?

La cocina de la bruja ♥ What's in the Witch's Kitchen?
¡Hola, confettis!
Se trata de What's in the Witch's Kitchen? ¡Seguid leyendo!

Hello, confettis!
The book I'm sharing today is THE BOMB. It's called What's in the Witch's Kitchen? by Nick Sharratt. It's perfect for working on both food and Halloween-related vocabulary. Plus, there's a twist when telling this story. Do you want to know more? Keep reading!

What is it about?
Halloween has arrived and it's time to get into a witch's house. Aren't we nosey! The first door we find it's the one for the kitchen. Are we brave enough for opening the door and take a look inside?

How do I tell this story?
My favourite way of telling the story I saw in Mi Álbum Infantil and in Entre Actividades Infantiles blogs. As we take a look at what's inside the different kitchen objects and appliances, we will have to lift the flap so that the delicious food appears (cheese, a pie, strawberry tea, biscuits and cakes, a toast, lollipops...).
As we keep seeing such exquisite bites, we start thinking about the feast we'll have, but...

¡Cuidado!

Be careful! The witch has caught us red handed! She scared the heck out of us and has put a spell on the kitchen that has transformed all the food. Now everything is pretty disgusting!

So, we'll have to go backwards lifting the flaps opposite to how we lifted them before. What has happened? The cheese has turned into bats, the biscuits and cakes are now spiders and snakes...

Quickly, and with a little bit of an upset stomach, we leave the witch's house, closing the book and having learnt how we're not supposed to poke around things that are not ours 😂

¿Os ha gustado? ¿Cómo contáis este cuento?

Ten Timid Ghosts ♥ Halloween Story
¡Hola, confettis!

Hello, confettis!
Here I am with a bargain I found on Amazon for only 3,90€! It's this book called Ten Timid Ghosts by Jennifer O'Connel from Scholastic. It's perfect for working on Halloween-related vocabulary as it has it all: ghosts, a witch, a haunted house... Let's take a look inside!

What is it about?
This story has a witch as its main character. She moves into a haunted house occupied by 10 ghosts.

So, the witch keeps scaring all the ghosts trying to get them out of the house. How? By using a skeleton, a bat, a black cat, a spider, dressing up as a monster, a vampire, a mummy... That way, one by one, they fly out of the mansion.

Outraged with the witch, the ghosts have a meeting and think how to get their house back. So, all together, they decide to scare her out!

That way, the ghosts get their haunted house back just in time for Halloween and give candy to trick-or-treaters.

Murciélagos en la noche ♥ Bats by night

Murciélagos en la noche ♥ Bats by night
¡Hola, confettis!

Hello, confettis!
Tomorrow is Halloween and in Arts we have created these terrifying bats! We've had such an amazing time and, although there was a little bit of chaos (let's stop pretending there wasn't), they look fantastic!

↠ Cartulina negra A4.
↠ Plantilla de murciélago (folio).
↠ Pintura: naranja, amarilla y blanca.
↠ Esponjas.

In this project we have used the following resources:
↠ A4 black card.
↠ Bat template (paper sheet).
↠ Paint: orange, yellow and white.
↠ Sponges.

In order to make them, we only needed to place the templates on the card, dip the sponges in the paint and get to work! We mixed the colours up, we painted out of the lines... Someone even painted his hand! Then we carefully removed the template and... our bats flew at sunset!

♥ Room on the Broom

¡Cómo mola tu escoba! ♥ Room on the Broom
¡Hola, confettis!

Hello, confettis!
Today I want to share another wonderful Julia Donaldson's book that I am sure a lot of you already know: Room on the Broom. This storybook is perfect for using it in Halloween and for introducing all the Halloweeny vocabulary. Let's see what it is about!

What is it about?
This story has a witch as its main character. She was flying on her broom when her hat was blown off.

The witch and the cat searched for the hat but they did not find it, until a dog appeared with it in his jaws and kindly asked if there was room on the broom for him.

But, due to the stormy wind, more of the witch's objects keep falling down, being found for other animals that want to take a sit on the broom. But, the broom cannot take all that weight and... snaps in two!

Everybody fell down and the witch ends up into the clutches of a terrible dragon but... do not worry! Thanks to the wit of the other animals, the witch managed to escape.

Finally, the witch ends up making a spell to create a new broom that includes a little corner for every member of the team. Even the bird has a nest and the frog has a bath!

↠ Vocabulario de Halloween.
↠ Los animales y su hábitat.
↠ Paisajes.
